It’s not too often but every once in a while you’ll see “Bluegrass” in the Wall Street Journal.
Today we’re treated to a reference to the genre thanks to Dr. Ralph Stanley’s participation in the off-beat Australian film “Lawless.”
The movie is based upon the historical novel, "The Wettest County in the World" by Matt Bondurant.
Nick Cave who fronts the rock band Bad Seeds wrote the screenplay and talked with the Journal’s John Jurgensen.
Cave said initially, Ralph didn’t want to go near it and he (Cave) realized how weird it was to have two Australian amateurs trying to tell this musical icon how to sing.
