First-Ever Best of Bluegrass Festival Announces Eclectic Lineup

Image635049275525104532Ranging from Bluegrass Hip-Hop to the “Masters” of this musical genre, the first-ever Best Of The Bluegrass (“BOB”) announced an impressive performer lineup for the week of Monday, June 3 through Saturday, June 8.

Inspired by the 40th Anniversary of the Festival of the Bluegrass, a group led by LAMA (Lexington Area Music Alliance) has built a full week of bluegrass-focused entertainment the first week of June in and around downtown Lexington.

BEST OF BLUEGRASS is: A convergence of musicians, enthusiasts & community for a weeklong celebration of Bluegrass, music and culture.  Featuring performances, workshops and community events, it all culminates in the annual Festival of the Bluegrass.

Bluegrass in the bluegrass. But not just bluegrass - the best of - from traditional to the sensational. That's the story of "BOB" - a gathering of lovers of all things bluegrass performed at eclectic venues in the legendary bluegrass region of Lexington, Kentucky. This first-ever event was crafted by a group of local volunteers who were inspired to help celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Festival of the Bluegrass at the Kentucky Horse Park. Now, this festival is surrounded by nightly performances, beginning on Monday, June 3th and continuing all week.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the music being presented as well as cooperation throughout the city,” commented LAMA President Tom Martin. “For a first-year event, there are some powerful performers coming our way.”

Lexington Mayor Jim Gray reflected on both the short term and long term benefits of the event. “Both tourism and economic development will be by-products of festivals like this – and we remain convinced that Lexington should play a major role in the bluegrass industry’s Image635049276761055224big events, including their two-day convention and awards show.”

“BOB promises to bring new music and festival lovers to Lexington,” said Lexington’s Convention & Visitor’s Bureau President, Jim Browder. “This is anatural for our growing world-class offerings of attractive events for our tourism guests.”

Best Of The Bluegrass (“BOB”) is an all-volunteer effort of LAMA, Downtown Lexington Corporation, LCVB, Cornett-IMS, Red Barn Radio, LFUCG WoodSongs, Smiley Pete Publishing, tadoo.com, Natasha’s, KET, WEKU, Southland Jamboree and Willie’s.
