Badgerland Bluegrass Association, a nonprofit, volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation, enjoyment and promotion of bluegrass music in Wisconsin is thinking outside of the box and venturing far beyond their state borders.

The group has gathered 14 original or public domain songs from association member bands and compiled a special CD that will be sold as a fundraiser to aid in the rebuilding of two different grade schools in Oklahoma that were demolished by recent tornados.

The CD will be appropriately titled: “After The Storm.”

Bands and individuals contributing to the project are: Monroe Crossing, Fairland Bluegrass, Beef Tea, KR Bluegrass, Hard Ryde, Colin O'Brien Stringy Band, Pickin' Up Speed, Burie Family, Paul Bast (from the Mecan River Ramblers), Front Porch Boys, Genesee Ridge, Red Star Express, Big Cedar, and the Roller Mills String Band.

The group’s funds have been earmarked especially to go towards the re-establishment of the schools’ respective music programs.

In addition to the CD, a series of concerts are being planned, where all of the proceeds from the concerts will also go to the music programs at the two schools.

The funds raised from the CD and the Concerts will specifically benefit the rebuilding of the music programs at Plaza Towers Elementary and Briarwood Elementary in the Oklahoma City Area.

The photo included here is the proposed artwork for the album cover and is what was left of Plaza Towers Elementary after the disaster.

According to Dale Palecek, the group’s spokesperson, Badgerland Bluegrass Music Association will be sending this CD out to radio programs with a regional or national reach in hope that those radio programs talk about this project to help rebuild the music programs at the 2 schools, and give some of the cuts on the CD some airplay.

CDs will be available for sale at the scheduled concerts and from most of the participating bands at their various and respective engagements.   For more information or for purchase and shipping instructions, contact the association via email at:  bbma@badgerlandbluegrass.org
