PRESCRIPTION BLUEGRASS IMAGE - MEGAN McKAMEYMegan McKamey might be young, but she’s no stranger to bluegrass music.

The Blountville, TN native first picked up the banjo at age nine after her Papa Conner told her she could have his old banjo if she’d learn to play it. Now, at 21, she is set to release her debut album, Here’s Your Goodbye.

The album is a brand-new collection of all-original music that was produced by Steve Gulley at his Curve Studio in Cumberland Gap, TN and features several of today's top bluegrass musicians, including Gulley, Tim Stafford, Jason Burleson, and Ron Stewart.

The album's title track is currently being released to radio as the first single, while the album itself will be available to the public on Tuesday, July 15th.

In the past several years, Megan has begun to make a mark on the East Tennessee bluegrass scene.  She performed in the 2011-12 season at the popular Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show in Pigeon Forge, and was recently featured as “Miss September” in the first ever Banjo Babes Calendar and Compilation Album. She also was featured on the first episode of Tim Farmer’s Homemade Jam, playing banjo alongside one of her musical heroes, J.D. Crowe.

Megan now makes her home in Kingsport, TN. She currently tours with the Tyler Williams Band, a bluegrass group based in Johnson City, and will also be fronting her own band in support of her new project. Outside of her musical career, she is also a full-time nursing student at Walters State Community College.
