Grandpa's Cough Medicine Tops Radio Download Chart

Image635593646751086469Outlaw bluegrass trio, Grandpa’s Cough Medicine, has graduated from regional success to national sensation with their new album, 180 PROOF.

This week, it is the number one downloaded album on the popular radio download site, Airplay Direct. The album released and made its live debut February 6th, to a sold out crowd at one of Jacksonville’s premier music venues, Underbelly.

The band consists of Jacksonville natives, including Brett Bass (guitar, dobro, vocals), Jon Murphy (bass, vocals), & Mike Coker (banjo), though some special guests join them on this latest offering.  The king of Hellbilly, Hank 3, lends his voice to the title track, Jason Carter (The Del McCoury Band, The Travelin’ McCoury’s) and Aaron Till (a Florida Image635593659536147732boy now residing in Nashville) contribute some fiddle, and Randy Kohrs, the Grammy®-award winning producer who recorded 180 Proof, also joined in with his renowned dobro & harmony vocal skills.

180 PROOF is fifteen tracks of unapologetic original bluegrass. The third full-length release by Grandpa’s Cough Medicine, it is being hailed as their best work yet. Included are a healthy dose of drinking songs (“180 Proof”, “Liquid Courage”, “Respect the Shine”), blistering instrumentals (“Midnight Coker”, “Flat Pick-Diculous”, “Keel’s Reel”), tales of vigilante justice (“Blood and Justice”, “Westboro Waltz”) and plenty of humor to wash it all down (“Denim Prison, “A Song for Bass and Banjo”).

Grandpa's Cough Medicine is the kind of band that will always put ya in a good mood when needed!” – Hank 3
