Avery Welter comes to the group from Watauga, Tennessee.
He grew up just outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he started playing fiddle at age six and soon learned guitar, mandolin, and banjo from his dad, Jim.
Avery studied classical violin for eight years while living in Pittsburgh and also studied classical music and theory at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School in Midland, Pennsylvania.
He is currently studying Bluegrass Music and Anthropology at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee.
“Avery is an extremely talented singer and musician that we look forward to performing with. He brings energy and enthusiasm that we find contagious and we can’t wait to hit the road for 2017 with this young man.”
Avery is stepping up to replace David Guthrie who has served the band and fans for the past 10 years.
