Adcock Injuries Worse Than First Reported!

Image635606053357334011At mid-week we reported here that Eddie and Martha Adcock had been involved in an automobile accident.   At the time, only scant information existed regarding the details.

Martha finally felt well enough yesterday to update us with the full story.  She writes:

I am just now able to respond to begin to say thank you to all for the well-wishes and prayers for Eddie and myself after our car accident last weekend. The bluegrass family is so wonderful, as are all our family and friends. Because so many are concerned, and due to my inability to write or speak to each one, here is what's been going on...

Newtown Signs with Moonstruck Management !

NewTown is (L-R) Clint Hurd on vocals and mandolin, Tony Mowell on guitar and vocals, Kati Penn-Williams on fiddle and vocals, Jr Williams on banjo, guitar and vocals. NewTown has inked a new business relationship with Moonstruck Management, the booking and management firm that handles stellar bluegrass acts including Dr. Ralph Stanley, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out and Lonesome River Band.

Ben Eldridge to be Honored by DC Bluegrass Union!

Image635604411677513001Seldom Scene Founding Member, Ben Eldridge will be honored this weekend at the DC Bluegrass Union's annual festival.

Ceremonies on Friday night will be highlighted with a presentation to Ben.  He'll be receiving the 2015 Washington Monument Award for his 40+ year commitment to bluegrass in the Washington area and beyond.

Traffic Accident for Eddie & Martha Adcock

Image635604391000950369Word from Tom Gray comes in about a bad traffic accident involving former bluegrass boy Eddie Adcock and his wife Martha.

On Saturday, a truck driver turned into the lane Eddie and Martha were in - causing a collision.  Both Eddie and Martha have fractured ribs and their old Chevy is likely a total loss according to Gray.

Debut Single From John Goad!

Image635603703145103330Tennessee native, John Curtis Goad is excited to announce his debut single, "Regina", a classic bluegrass story about a man, wrongly accused of a crime.

Of course, as with all good bluegrass songs, there's just a little bit more to the story than first appears.  Regina was originally recorded by Lester Flatt & the Nashville Grass in the 1970s, but John has given the song a smooth, modern traditional update.

Song Contest - For The Dogs!

Image635602260294409987A lot has been said about Donna Hughes song "Dog On A 10-Foot Chain" and a lot more interest in the traumatic situations many dogs suffer has been generated because of the song's associated video.

Even celebrities have jumped onboard to help Donna with her cause. But Donna's not content to stop there.  We received a note from her today announcing a special SONGWRITING CONTEST sponsored by DOGS DESERVE BETTER!  She wanted us to let everyone know and we're glad to do it.

Flatt Lonesome Makes Television Debut on Reno's Old Time Music Festival !

Image635599704007511363The 2014 International Bluegrass Music Association Emerging Artist - Flatt Lonesome will be making their television debut as featured guests on Reno's Old Time Music Festival this Saturday on RFD-TV.

"We had a blast on the set with Ronnie and his band, and we can't wait to watch the show along with you this weekend!" the band said in a statement. "It is an honor for us to be on an episode of Reno's Old Time Music Festival."
