“Tennessee Flat Top Box” Tops the Chart Once Again!

A classic country song has become a hit once again, in the hands of Darin and Brooke Aldridge and their band.

“Tennessee Flat Top Box” is the current Number One song on the Bluegrass Today Weekly Airplay Chart.   It appears on the Aldridge’s new album Snapshots (Mountain Home Music Company).

Now a hit for the third time, “Tennessee Flat Top Box” was written and recorded by Johnny Cash, and made its way to Number 11 on Billboard in 1961.

Johnny’s daughter, Rosanne Cash, recorded her version on the album King’s Record Shop and the song reached Number One on Billboard in 1988. It featured Randy Scruggs (Earl’s son) on guitar solos.

The album Snapshots from Darin and Brooke debuted at Number 8 on the Billboard Bluegrass Album Chart.

The Bluegrass Today chart is compiled weekly from actual airplay data reported by contributing DJs. The numbers reflect airplay on satellite and terrestrial radio, both commercial and non-commercial stations. The chart does not include activity on streaming internet broadcasts.

New Focus for Claire Lynch!

Image635679207010747537Claire Lynch is a multi-award winning performer/songwriter and a “singer’s singer” whose work has been heralded by Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and many music journalists, all of whom have written about her with favor.

She paved the way for other women in a musical world that traditionally belonged to men – the world of bluegrass – and managed to set the bar a little higher for everyone who followed.
