One of the main reasons I read Prescription Bluegrass is the reviews of CD's so I know what I may like to buy each week. I find the same reviews week after week after week? I don't quite understand this since there are so many bands wanting reviews? Could I be going to the wrong section for the updates to see the new reviews?

ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to write. We're thrilled that you like our CD Reviews. Like you though we also wish there could be more. To do a fair and just job of reviewing an artist's CD, it takes a lot more than just a quick listen and jotting down some lines. Our reviewers spend weeks with just one CD, listening and digesting over and over in order to fully grasp each song. Like sampling fine wines, you can't just go and go without stopping and having a bit of a palette cleanser in between. Then some CDs also may require a certain amount of research unless the reviewer is already knowledgeable about their band members, previous releases, etc.
Our reviewers work on a volunteer basis and must also maintain day jobs in order to be able to give us some of their valuable free time. But we hear you! And we are on a constant search to find more qualified reviewers. So let us use this opportunity to put in a plug here.
If anyone would like to try their hand at reviewing brand new CDs for the Prescription Bluegrass Blog, send us a sample review of any bluegrass CD you have in your collection. It can be old or new...for this purpose. We're just looking for your writing style.
